Polyolefin Microstructure Characterization Tools for a QC Environment
by MEng. Alejandro Fernández
DATE: 17th February, 2022
TIME: 16:00h (Singapore and Malaysia Time)
DURATION: 1 hour
In this webinar you will learn:
- The most appropriate and beneficial techniques for quality control in the production of resins.
- How to optimize the performance of a resin.
- To use the most telling parameters for obtaining essential information about a resin’s microstructure
- Why Melt Index and Density, although common parameters, are not the best for defining a product’s performance.
About the Speaker
Alejandro Fernández has a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. At university, he combined his studies with his passion for traveling, spending one year at the University of Bologna (Italy) and finishing his degree with a six-month stay at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (USA).
Having worked as an engineer in Polymer Char for the past 10 years, Alejandro has acquired vast experience in polyolefin characterization techniques and instrumentation. He is involved in important research projects in the analytical department and plays a principal role in the after-sale support to Polymer Char’s customers and official partners globally.
Webinar : Biodegradable Long-Acting Injectable Implants Prepared By Hot Melt Extrusion
LIVE DATE: 29/07/2021
START TIME: 10:00 PM
DURATION: 60 MINUTES
Overview:
Injectable implants have distinct advantages for certain applications; for example, their efficacy over a long period of time can increase patient compliance, and the drug substance is applied in a non-systemic manner. Development and manufacturing of these implants often involves polymers as a matrix which makes twin-screw extrusion a perfect technology for their development. Nevertheless, it is a comparatively new technology and much can still be learned about the applicability and benefits of twin-screw extrusion. This seminar aims to give an introduction as well as real-life examples of what to look out for when entering this field of pharmaceutical manufacturing
Key learning objectives:
• Learn how you can prepare long lasting implants using Hot Melt Extrusion
• Gain an overview and applications for injectable implants
• What to consider when choosing polymeric matrices for drug delivery systems
Who should attend:
• Formulation scientists and engineers in the pharmaceutical industry
• Academia who want to learn more about the possibilities to utilize HME for implant development and manufacturing
